Give us the money or your files get it

As if PC users haven't enough to worry about, along comes a new threat.

We all have files that are indispensable - and in many cases - valuable. Imagine sitting down at computer and you discover a ransom note. Give us the money or your files get it.

This is what has already happened to one poor chap in the US. A hacker managed to access and lock his files, then demanded $200 for the keys to unlock them! To add insult to injury, the file kidnapper couldn't even spell!

The files were able to be opened without any money changing hands, but there is little doubt "ransom-ware" will become more sophisticated and costly.
