Comment: Edgar Ray Killen - There is a God

What masked and bannered men can rock the ark and navigate a course to their own anointed kingdom come?Who sailed their captain to waters that they troubled in My font, sinking in the ignorant seas of prejudice?

Richard Harris, "There are too many saviours on my cross"

Edgar Ray Killen, or "Preacher Killen" as he is known in the community, has been sentenced to sixty years in prison. At 80 years of age, Killen will live out his last days in a lonely cell and die in prison.

The bodies of Chaney, Schwerner and Goodman were found on August 4, 1964. They had been beaten, tortured and shot to death. According to FBI files and court transcripts, Killen not only participated in the crime, but did most, if not all, of the planning.

In an interview in 2004, Killen said, "I have pastored churches all through Neshoba County for over fifty years." Like so many others, Killen uses the Lord's name to pursue an agenda of evil and hatred.

Killen once said of Ross Olivier, an anti-apartheid activist, "He'd best go back and read his Bible."

The Bible says, "Thou shall not kill." a part Killen seems to have conveniently forgotten. He uses the Bible as a tool to push his own poisoned agenda.

In March, Killen broke both his legs. He presents a picture of an old man, weak and frail, breathing with the help of a tube. His last days will not be with his loved ones, (a fate he will share with three young men who died 41 years ago), he will die in a Mississippi prison. Although he will be isolated, he will still be in an environment where he will face hostility instead of back slapping.

Perhaps Killen is right. There is a God. One who thinks there are too many saviours on his cross.
