Favourable conditions for female entrepreneurs in HK and Shenzhen

A report jointly organized by the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Shenzhen Academy of Social Science, shows Hong Kong and Shenzhen have sufficient social, institutional, and economic conditions to support female entrepreneurs.

According to the survey, female entrepreneurs in Hong Kong outnumber males by three to one, while in Shenzhen the ratio is approx two to one.

Female entrepreneurs in Hong Kong tend to invest an average of 420,000 Hong Kong dollars (US$55,000) starting a business, far more than that of female entrepreneurs in Shenzhen, who usually invest 50,000 Hong Kong dollars (US$6,434).

The majority of women entrepreneurs in both cities hold other jobs
