New Indian airline places $6 billion order with Airbus

New Indian start up airline IndiGo, has placed a $6 billion order with Airbus, for 100 planes.

The budget airline is a teaming of InterGlobe Enterprises Ltd. and Indian businessman Rakesh Gangwal (previously with United Airlines, Air France and US Airways.)

India has seen a boom in new airlines recently. IndiGo along with Kingfisher (named after a beer), Spice Air, Go Air, Indus One and Air One, will battle for their share of the booming "no frills" market.

I wonder how many will be around in June 2007?
