Adult training requires the use of a number of different techniques to enhance and promote learning. One such technique is "The Fish Bowl."
Fish bowls are basically discussions about discussions. Ask two or three participants to sit in a circle while the other participants form a "listening circle" around them.
Give the first group a topic to discuss or present. The "Listening Group" then comments on what they have observed.
A fishbowl can help focus and enliven group discussion. It is also a great way to combine the benefits of large and small group discussion.
