Human Resources: "Dressing down" increases productivity

A new study, (what would we do without them!) shows "dressing down" increases productivity.

The survey also says workers and managers now agreed about the benefits of relaxing dress codes. Seven out of 10 employers said the performance of their staff improved if they were allowed to dress down, compared with just half during a similar survey five years ago.

Peter Done, managing director of Peninsula said: “Dress down days in the workplace are proving to be an effective tool for employers to increase productivity and is proving popular with employers and employees alike."

As my dear old dad used to say, there's nothing like a good dressing down in the workplace.

Tomorrow no doubt, another study will prove that "dressing down" decreases productivity and moral, while another study will show that studies often mean sod all in most environments. That of course, will be followed by another study that proves otherwise.

Guess I am in my cynical mood, bought on by an overdose of buzz-words in the workplace.

I know! Let's have a "Buzzword free day" in the workplace and boardrooms!

On second thoughts, that's not a good idea. A study will then show that 90% of consultants could think of bugger all to say during, "Buzzword free days."
