Human Resources: HP to cut almost 10 per cent of their work force

Hewlett-Packard plan to cut 14,500 jobs during the next year and a half to "create a simpler, nimbler HP."

Representing almost 10% of it's workforce, it is estimated downsizing will save the company $1.9 billion per year by 2007.

The company that once boasted it's employee friendly culture has been facing stiff competition, well known managerial problems, the departure of the over-rated and over paid Carla Fiorina, and the mismanaged merger with Compaq.
