Indonesian officials get on their bikes

The Indo-Pos newspaper reports that a top Indonesian official on the island of Sulawesi has ordered hundreds of his staff to cycle to work once a week in response to a presidential call to save energy.

Iwan Bokings, the head of Boalemo district in Gorontalo province, has banned all civil servants from using cars, buses and motorcycles on Thursdays, suggesting they use bicycles instead.
