International Development: NGO donates cows to tsunami victims

For some reason, I find this story from India very touching.

newindipress reports thatBochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) has donated 250 cows to the villages of Sethupathiyoor, Vattumadi, Koittunar Vialai and Saral Vialai.

According to a press release, each cow would produce 12-22 litres of milk a day which would help in providing nourishment for the children besides improving the livelihood of tsunami-affected people.

Apart from this, 100 rope-making machines with raw materials, five slipper-making units and rubber sheets for 100 families were distributed.

No glitz, no glamour, no faded rock stars. Just something simple and much needed.
