International Development: SA's opposition launch Stop Mugabe Loan campaign

Finance24.com reports that South Africa's Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Tony Leon, has begun a "Stop the Mugabe Loan Campaign" in an effort to persuade President Thabo Mbeki, not to give loans to Mugabe.

He claims to have been, "inundated with letters, emails, phone calls and faxes" from people expressing anger at the fact that South Africa was considering giving Mugabe nearly R7bn.

Leon said: "Our government's entire humanitarian assistance budget for this year is R13m."

A letter to Mbeki can be found on the party's website.
