Energy: World renewable energy market - difference between promise and reality

A press release by Ernst & Young relating to the issue of their "Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Indices," reports a clear gap between the ‘promise and reality’ in the world renewable energy market.

The Near-Term Index, which looks at market attractiveness over a two year period, show that the UK, ranked at number five, is trailing behind countries such as Spain, the US, Germany and India, because the markets are forecast to install in excess of 1 giga watt (GW) to December 2006 compared to the 500 to 750 mega watts (MW) anticipated in the UK.
