G'day World - Friday Aug 19

Good morning! A slightly overcast but mild day here in Sydney, heading towards an above average temperature of 25 centigrade. This is the last post for this morning, more will follow after lunch, late afternoon and finally early evening.

Our great mate debate has been resolved! The decision to ban Parliament House security guards addressing visitors, tourists and politicians as "mate" has been overturned.

I am not sure if this means that they will also be allowed to use other traditional Australian customer service phrases such as, "I'm not sure mate, I'll have to ask," "I'm sorry mate, I don't work in this department - I'm in kitchenware," and of course, "I'm not sure if it will work with your PC - should do. If not, just bring it back."

None of this applies to Myer department stores, where you are so grateful to find an assistant, you don't really care what they say.

Wherever you may be - be safe!

PS: I will be responding to all those who responded to the "mate" topic, shortly.
