Human Resources: Aer Lingus memo angers union

Ireland's national airline, Aer Lingus has admitted sending an internal memo listing ways to "persuade" staff to resign.

The document was prepared by senior human resource executives (who should have know better than to put well known and legitimate techniques in bloody writing!) suggests giving staff inconvenient shifts (an oldie but a goodie) over-long and tiresome training courses, (mine are never tiresome or over-long) and telling middle management that where they are now, is as far as they are going to get!

The Services, Industrial, Professional and Technical Union, is of course indignant and says it will name and shame those responsible.

If it were not for one sided industrial relations legislation, there would be no need for such memos. Even airlines can not afford to carry passengers or excess baggage.
