Human Resources: Recruitment ads in the UAE must not specify nationality

The Khaleej Times reports that labour authorities in the United Arab Emirates, have warned the local press from carrying advertisements recruiting labour that violate provisions of the labour laws in force in the country.

This follows a recent advertisement for the post of general manager of foreign nationality. The advertisement announced the vacancy for a general manager's post to be filled up by a qualified person who should be either British, Australian or a US passport holder.

Newspaper ads are not allowed to specify nationality unless national employees are unavailable. The Ministry of Information and Culture has recently banned ads that specified nationalities or religious sects
