An alleged expert that few people have ever heard of, claims that overtime in the workplace isn't necessary.
Chris Ortiz a quality engineering supervisor for a manufacturing company in Winston-Salem, N.C. has written a book called: "40+: Overtime Under Poor Leadership."
While he makes the valid point that, "bad, inefficient management," is usually the reason for overtime, I would question his use of the word "usually." A more appropriate word be - "often."
The populist title of his book fails to take into consideration the fact that time after time, surveys have proved that employees spend a significant amount of time on personal and non work related issues.
Nor does the title make any reference to the common practice of workers deliberately making sure over-time will be required.
If you want to apportion blame, blame all sides, not just management.
