Outsourcing: Doctors in the Philippines study to become nurses

In an effort of find higher paying jobs overseas, an increasing number of doctors in the Philippines are studying to become nurses. Currently the figure stands at around 6000 - 2000 up on last year.

According to the Health Secretary Francisco Duque, this has created a, “threatening situation for our health care system.”

A special task force is working on a bill requiring doctors to practice in the Philippines for at least three to four years before seeking work overseas.
