Advertising: Mahatma Gandhi ad sparks contoversy in India

India's National Egg Coordination Committee has sparked controversy by attempting to use Mahatma Gandhi as their brand ambassador.

The advertisement claims that Mahatma believed eggs were a vegetarian diet and that he had referred to eggs as vegetarian intake at a congregation of vegetarians in London in 1931.

However, leaders of political parties, Gandhians and NGOs say the information in the advertisement is incorrect and have demanded that the advertisement be withdrawn.
