In a move aimed at cutting red tape, the European Commission is scrapping or reworking 68 proposed regulations including controversial plans to extend the employment rights of temporary workers.Currently, temp workers are given the same equal employment rights as permanent staff. The plans have provoked much outcry from employers who fear extra costs being heaped on their business.
As usual, the industrial terrorists known as trade unions are against the idea. Brendan Barber of the Trades Union Congress said:"The announcement gives a green light to those unscrupulous employers who will continue to exploit agency workers."
Naturally, he makes no mention of unscrupulous employees who exploit those who pay their wages.
