Internet: China issues new regulations to curb "unhealthy news stories" on the web.

The China Daily reports that China has issued new regulations to curb "unhealthy news stories" on the web.

A State Council spokesman said: "We need to better regulate the online news services with the emergence of so many unhealthy news stories that will easily mislead the public."

News sites that publish "fabricated information, pornography, gambling or violence" face severe punishment or shutdowns.

If US media were to face severe punishment for publishing fabricated information, the good ole boys would have to form a support group to cope with the trauma.
