Outsourcing: India's first village business process unit benefits all

In the village of Kizhanur, a major American company has started an experiment in outsourcing. Run by a local and employing 25 villagers, the workers code and key in in data for Lason India, part of the American-owned Lason Inc.

Kizhanur is India's first village business process outsourcing unit, called Chida Soft. Run by a local and employing 25 villagers, the program has been welcomed by the residents. Not only are the villagers given training and support, but the initiative has helped encourage young workers to stay in the village instead of moving to the city in search of work.

The company has the benefit of lowered costs and the villagers receive a much needed morale booster.

I wonder how soon the uninformed anti-globalisation mob will ruin things the same way have in so many other places.
