Trade: China woos Iraq

Chinese suppliers attending Shanghai's annual purchasing fair were so interested in wooing the visiting Iraqi delegation, that discussions were limited to twenty minutes each.

China is keen to capitalise on business opportunities offered by the situation in Iraq, while Iraq wants to avoid paying fees to middlemen in the Gulf trading environment.

Wu Wenzhong, general manager of Huayi Electric Apparatus Group said: "Doing business with Iraq now is less risky and with a higher return than before the war."
