Advertising: Sony drop "blasphemous" Playstation ad

Sony have withdrawn a Playstation ad showing a man wearing a simulated crown of thorns, after the Vatican branded it as "blasphemous."

The ad, published in Italian newspapers showed a young man with a crown of thorns and other symbols on his head. The slogan was, "Ten years of passion."

Father Antonio Sciortino, the editor of the influential Catholic magazine "Famiglia Cristiana" said: "It is almost blasphemous. There's no other point to it than to provoke. The advertisers, would never have dared to take such liberties with the Muslim religion."

He obviously hasn't seen the Boeing ad for Bell helicopters depicting US Special Forces assaulting a mosque. And yes, I have seen it.
