Advertising: South Africa rules "invisible number plate" ad illegal

South Africa: The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), has ruled that an advertisement for a solution that can be sprayed on to car numberplates to make them illegible for traffic cameras is illegal and must be stopped immediately.

PhotoBlocker, is sold in an aerosol can and according to the makers helps to eliminate fines by making number plates "invisible".

In a rather feeble attempt at damage control, BizAssist, the company marketing the product, said that the sale of the product didn't break any traffic rules. Their position is that there is no law prohibiting any "invisible" solution and that until the law is changed, they will continue marketing this product.
