The Danish Air Force is to pay Santa Claus $5 000 in compensation after an F-16 fighter jet frightened one of his reindeers to death.
Olavi Niikanoff, is a professional Santa. One day when his reindeer were grazing peacefully in a field, a Danish Air Force jet roared overhead causing one of his reindeer to die of fright.
Captain Morten Jensen, an air force spokesperson, said: "We acknowledge it was our fault and we have to pay compensation." Apparently, the air force regularly pay out sums of money to compensate for animals that die of fright when planes roar overhead.
