Environment: McDonald's the environmentally friendly company

Citing the company's progress on sustainability reporting and commitment to continuous enhancement of its social and environmental performance, the Ceres board of directors today announced it has approved fast food giant McDonald's Corp. as a Ceres company.

McDonald's is among 65 companies - including nearly a dozen Fortune 500 companies - to be accepted into the Ceres network of companies.

The Ceres website reports that Ceres "is a national network of investment funds, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working to advance environmental stewardship on the part of businesses. Ceres is renowned for its unique ability to bring diverse groups together to find positive solutions for complex environmental and social challenges. "

Their mission statement is to "move businesses, capital, and markets to advance lasting prosperity by valuing the health of the planet and its people".
