Goodnight from Sydney

At a time when soaring fuel prices are causing motorists all around the world to rethink their motoring habits, the Australian International Motor Show, features the $8 million Maybach Exelero.

Weighing two tonnes, six metres long and holding just two people, the car can reach 100 kph in just 4.4 seconds. At a recent speed trial in Italy, the car reached a top speed of 351 kph.

If you are thinking of buying one to take the kids to soccer practice, you may be disappointed, Maybach has no plans to put the car into production and for now, at least, it will remain a show car.

Also on show is Toyota's "i Unit", a battery operated "personal mobility", vehicle that you spend 45 minutes recharging so that you can drive it for 30 minutes.

Till tomorrow, wherever you may be - be safe!
