Human Resources: Burundi gets $2.4 million loan to pay its public servants.

Burundi has been granted $2.4 million by Belgium to pay its public servants.

Erik Silance, the Belgian development cooperation minister, said that: "Belgium considered it crucial that its former colony paid its workers' salaries now that the country's peace process had taken a promising direction."

He also added that a joint Belgium-Burundi commission would be set up before December to discuss long-term aid.
