Industrial Relations: Guards at Antwerp prison return to work

After being on strike for four weeks, guards at the Antwerp prison are to return to work.

Under a new agreement, prison guards can cut down on certain jobs whenever the number of staff present drops to 247 or 95% of the normal number of 260. The agreement is temporary until the arrival of 20 extra staff promised by Justice Minister Onkelinx.

Prisoners will be affected by the agreement, being allowed only one daily walk instead of three. At the insistence of Ms. Onkelinx, visitation rights will not be affected.
