International Development: Muslims must eradicate poverty to achieve IT competency

Speaking at the inaugural World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), Dr Mohamed Ali Mohamed Shukri, director, Jamiah Naleemiah, Sri Lanka, said that the Islamic world will not be able to achieve competency in information technology (IT) if it does not urgently address the problems of illiteracy and poverty.

He also said that in developing human capital, serious efforts must be taken to arrest the prevalent poverty rate and eradicate poverty in the Muslim countries, so that Muslims could become competent in IT.

He missed the bit about eradicating poverty helping to achieve competency in actually staying alive.
