International Development: Vietnam signs poverty reduction and environmental protection deal

Hanoi: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the United Nations Development Programme and Britain's Department for International Development, have signed a $3.7 million project supporting efforts in integrating poverty reduction and environmental protection.

The new initiative called,"Harmonising poverty reduction and environmental goals in policy and planning for sustainable development," is aimed at linking poverty reduction and the environment by analysing and developing policy that effectively bring the two areas together, while working with MONRE to better co-ordinate donor support and partnerships.

Another round of talks, another round of mutual back-slapping, another fancy title. Meanwhile, another child dies of hunger.
