Narcotics: Russian drug agency to open office in Tajikistan

Russia will open a branch of the Federal Service for Control of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Circulation, in Dushanbe, the capital of the Central Asian Republic of Tajikistan.

The office will provide information and expertise exchange, and enable cooperation in efforts to counter drug trafficking. U.S., French, German, and other foreign representatives are already working at the Tajik Drugs Control Agency.

So far this year more than 3.8 metric tons of drugs, including 1.8 metric tons of heroin, have been seized,.
