Trade: India and Mauritius to sign trade agreement

Mauritius and India are to sign a preferential trade agreement that will boost the beautiful island's exports. The agreement will also give India an opening into African markets.

The agreement includes a number of products which the two countries can trade at low or zero tariffs. These include, pharmaceuticals, agricultural machinery, automobiles and spare parts.

India is the third biggest supplier to Mauritius with exports totalling $222 million last year. During the same period, Mauritius exports to India were worth $16.5 million.
