Agriculture: Iran ahead in commercializing the world's first transgenic rice

The Manilla Bulletin Online reports that Iran has gone ahead in commercializing the world's first transgenic rice after developing it for more than 10 years. Observers have been expecting China to be the first in this field.

Behzad Ghareyazie, senior scientist, International Rice Research Institute (Iran), said: "People will love it. It's a wonderful technology".

I don't really understand the technical bits and pieces, but further information can be found on the Manilla Bulletin Online website, in the article, "Iran releases world’s first Bt rice".
