Bilateral Trade: Botswana and China strengthen ties

The Vice Premier of the State Council of the Peoples Republic of China, Mr. Huang Ju, has met with the President of the Republic of Botswana, Mr. Festus Gontebanye Mogae.

During their discussions the Botswanan president thanked China for its assistance in the areas of human resource development, agriculture, health, infrastructure, housing and the rehabilitation of the Botswana rail-line. Botswana also received a number of interest-free and confessional loans from China.


Local media reports that three cooperation agreements were signed which includes an interest free loan, agreement on confessional loans, and a 46 member Chinese medical team being sent to Botswana.
