Defense: Norway to send fighter jets to Afghanistan

Norway is to send three or four F-16 fighter jets to Afghanistan next year to assist the NATO led International Security Assistant Force (ISAF). The decision has sparked controversy within the new left leaning government.

SV parliamentarian Hallgeir Langeland told Norwegian news agency NTB, "One doesn’t use fighter jets for peacekeeping forces, they’re used offensively. The danger of ending up in the U.S.'s grip is huge, since the Americans can command the F-16s out” on a mission".
