Children in poor areas of the Kyrgyz Republic, are to benefit from a $15 million grant from The Asian Development Bank. The project is designed to modernize the country's basic education curriculum, including an improved learning assessment system and new textbooks.
UzReport.com reports that at present strategies used to assess the quality of education provided by schools are based on student grades.
Facilities and educational equipment will be upgraded in rural areas, improved in-service teacher training and financial incentives provided for rural teachers.
