Goodnight from Sydney

Good news. Tweety is safe!

Who the heck is Tweety? I hear you ask. Make a nice cup of tea, grab some bikkies, pull up a chair and I will tell you. Tweety is a very young cockatiel, who for two and a half day has been trapped in a partially collapsed block of apartments within walking distance of me.

Half of Sydney has been talking about poor Tweety's plight - a young bird who is hand fed and needs constant attention. The apartment in which Tweety was trapped was in a very precarious position and could have vanished into a whopping big hole at any time.

Today however, Tweety was rescued by police with the help of a police bomb squad robot named "Robbo". The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the robot, "went into the block this morning and managed to hook the bird's cage and bring it out". If you click on the link there is a cute phot of Tweety with the relieved owner. And yes - a vet has checked Tweety and apart from some signs of stress, all is well.

There is also a related link "On a wing and a prayer as Tweety awaits rescue" It gives you a good idea of Tweety's "pwedicament".

Wherever you may be - be as safe as Tweety!
