Human Resources: Online resume scam

There is an online scam targeting jobseekers who post their resumes online. This is how it works:

* A job seeker posts his/her resume online

* The scam artist monitors such websites

* Pretending to be an employer, they then email jobseekers offering jobs such as "financial coordinators" or "accounts receivable".

* The task of the unsuspecting job seeker is to receive and cash travellers cheques and bank cashiers cheques - at their own bank. (If they haven't cottoned on by now they never will!).

* They are then told to send most of the value of these checks to the "employer" keeping a small amount for themselves.

* Of course, the checks are counterfeit.

The job seeker is then responsible to the bank for the entire amount of each cheque.

If you wish to know how to avoid being the victim of online scams, just leave me $500 in used bank notes, next to the tree outside the betting shop, and I will contact you.
