Human Resources: Proposed Norwegian legislation would require 40% of board members to be female

Under propose legislation, Norwegian companies would have two years to add more female executives or face the prospect of dissolution. The law would require that 40 percent of boardroom members would have to be female.

Oh I can see it now. In 18 months time companies will be rushing to add female board members regardless of demonstrated ability or expertise. Whoosh - what was that? that mate, was competency based selection criteria going out the window. Just as it has with other affirmative action strategies around the world.

Frankly, I wouldn't care if 100% of board members were women, men or purple coloured people eaters - as long as they get results.
