Australia's national; telco Telstra is to cut 10,000 to 12,000 jobs over a five year period as part of a major restructure.Chief executive Sol Trujillo, (US readers may know him from Orange and US West), will today outline plans for a much needed overhaul of the companies operations.
The timing of the announcement couldn't be much worse, as Australian "workers" are today holding a nationwide series of mass protests, complaining about new industrial relations reform that actually gives rights to employers.
Rights for people who pay the wages? How very Un-Australian.
