Illegal Trade: Uganda cracks down on illegal trade

Ugandan authorities are cracking down on the illegal goods trade on the Sudan-Congo-Uganda border.

Last week, the Uganda Revenue Authority seized 89 cartons of contraband Supermatch cigarettes and 313 cartons of Tiger Head batteries. The smugglers produced fake and unverifiable receipts. I like the quote by the officer in charge of the bust: "However, when we 'hardened' on them, they accepted that they had got the batteries from DR Congo".

I wonder what his definition of "hardened" is?:)
