Intellectual Property: Amazon granted patent for reader reviews

Amazon.com has been granted the patent for its "reader review" system.

The decision means that sites encouraging customers to write a review of a product they have purchased would theoretically have to pay a fee to Amazon. Review sites offering reader comments will also be affected.

Craig Berman, form Amazon.com said he couldn't speculate on whether the company would attempt to license its new intellectual property.
