Telecommunications: Middle East companies bid for Bangladesh cell phone licence

Two Middle East-based companies are bidding bids for a licence to become Bangladesh's sixth cell phone operator. The companies concerned are Warid Telecom International LLC of the United Arab Emirates, and Omniah mobile company of Jordan.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission officials said they will evaluate the bids as soon as possible to allow the new operator to take advantage of the growing market.
