There are a number of factors to consider when planning the program which can affect the learner's ability to achieve competency. The characteristics of training participants that may affect the achievement of competency may include:
* Level of confidence, nervousness or anxiety
* Gender and age
* Previous experience in adult learning and assessment processes
* Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN)
* Cultural, language and educational background
* Physical ability
* Previous experience with the subject matter
* Resources required
When you are planning you training program, as well as considering the most appropriate program, the resources required etc., you have to think about the learners and what they are capable of in terms of learning.
