Training: Plan & Promote a Training Program - Decide on most appropriate delivery approaches and activities

By Mike Hitchen Consulting - the consultancy that puts principles before profits.

When you have determined that training is the most appropriate measure, you need to choose the most appropriate program. You have to think about whether there are existing programs that would suit the learners, whether you have to design a new training program and what form of training is appropriate.

The training program that you select may be based on a number of different performance or competency standards. For example:

* A relevant national industry package.

* An enterprise specific package

* An agreed curriculum course.

* International standards

The training may be delivered in a number of ways, it may take place in a number of different locations, or all in one place and that is something you have to consider when planning the program. The delivery approach will affect learner's time away from their job, resources requiremens and other variables. The training may be:

* Face to face

* Distance learning

* On the job delivery at work or in a training environment

* Off the job in a training organisation

* Combination of the above

Tomorrow I will give a brief overview of some of the above
