Charities: Red Cross considers new symbol

The Moscow Times reports on a recent meeting of 192 countries that have signed the Geneva Conventions on the conduct of warfare. The meeting considered whether to adopt a new Red Cross emblem, which would pave the way for Israel to join the movement after nearly six decades.

The "red crystal" would consist of a red square standing on one corner, with a blank white interior and a thick red border -- could be used by the Israeli society instead of the Star of David.
