Defense: India to boost navy with over 60 new warships

India, the biggest recipient of World Bank funding, plans to get over 60 new warships. The navy has ordered 27 warships ranging from patrol boats to frigates and had "in-principle" clearance from the government for 36 more vessels.

Admiral Arun Prakash, the Indian Navy chief said: "There is probably no other navy with a shipbuilding program of such magnitude". He added that the navy had "reluctantly", begun negotiations with Russia to acquire three more Talwar-class frigates.
