Energy: Iran welcomes Russian participation in Iran-India-Pakistan pipeline

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi, has said that his country supports Russia's participation in a multi-billion-dollar plan to supply Iranian natural gas to India and Pakistan.

The proposed $22 billion project would involve Iran supplying India with 5 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually over a 25-year period from 2009.

A memorandum of cooperation with Pakistan has also been signed involving construction of a gas pipeline from Iran through Pakistan.
