Entrepreneurship: South Korea's teen entrepreneurs

Jae-Young Kim, writing for donga.com, has an interesting article that takes a look at South Korea's "1318" generation - often called "post-Olympic generation" as they were born after the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

The main focus of the article is the number of teenagers who have started their own businesses - especially online. It is estimated that teenagers account for about 30 percent of individual business owners online. It also briefly describes the "Youth Experience Program for Managing Business" run by the country's Small and Medium sized Business Agency (SMBA).

As I know one 16 year old in Sydney who runs her own successful business, and knowing the sort of patronising crap she has to put up with from non-clients, especially from those overseas, I found the article greatly encouraging.
