Environment: Caviar black market threatens many species of sturgeon

The World Wildlife Fund and TRAFFIC a wildlife trade monitoring organisations, claim that a black market in caviar is putting many species of sturgeon in danger of becoming extinct. A kilogram (2.2 pounds) can fetch up to $7,000 in the U.K.

The two organisations allege that European governments have been delaying implementation of a universal labelling system that would identify the origin of the prized caviar.
